MOO
Welcome to Moo, strange undersea realm of King Nep-Tuna and his merfolk. Moo is the remnants of a civilization that sank many centuries ago, except that it wasn't here when the Klickies first came to the island about 30 years ago. And King Nep-Tuna was a perfectly normal little boy named C. King, who decided he wanted to be a merman. The rest, as they say, is history. Someday I will share it with you.
Here we see the beautiful mermaid Lorelei Lemuria, braiding her long blond hair as a Naval ship of the line, the Golden Behind, slips by in the background. Ordinarily she would try to lure them to their doom, but she's on her break. It looks like a line squall is coming in behind the ship.
Interesting note: the Golden Behind is the ship on which the Klickies first came to Geobra Island. At the time it was a pirate ship, but it has since changed hands. More than once.
In the next picture, King Nep-Tuna welcomes you to his undersea palace. It must have been quite a showplace before it sank beneath the sea.
And here King Nep-Tuna receives tribute from the merfolk, the best of the harvest of the sea.
This is Hull House, the sunken remains of the Jane Addams. Here Lorelei and Gil Breather make their home. Note: the ship is a duplex; Lorelei lives in the stern and Gil in the bow. And don't think that because bow (bough) is spelled the same as bow (and arrow), which is a homonym for beau, meaning boyfriend, that Gil is in some way romantically attched to Lorelei. Just don't, okay.
Here's the real story: Gil is meeting with his land-dwelling sweetheart, marine salvage expert Pearl Diver. One of Pearl's best assets is the length of time she can hold her breath. Here in their private undersea grotto, they can share an intimate moment. But King Nep-Tuna had better not find out -- you know how he gets!
Here are the citizens of Moo.
And finally, here is the most famous Citizen of Moo, although he doesn't appear in the usual social settings. He appears when Moo is threatened. Meet Aqua-Marine, the Champion and Guardian of the sub-oceanic region. (Lorelei thinks it amazing that she has never seen Aqua-Marine and Gil Breather at the same time. Strange, huh? Lorelei is not the sharpest cutlass on the sea floor.)
Thanks to Craig Austin for the use of his terrific aquarium agora.
