The
Great Detectives
Deduce the Identity of The Adversary

When I began planning this page, I intended to use only "great detectives" who were in the public domain, and therefore eligible to be Fables themselves. Unfortunately, the current rule (post-Bono copyright extension of 1998) is that no work written after 1922 is definitely out of copyright. And exhaustive research has determined which of the detectives above are or are not in the public domain.
In the public domain:
Father Brown: 1910.
Hercule Poirot: 1920.
Sherlock Holmes: 1887.
Probably not in the public domain:
Curse you, Sonny Bono.
